Defense of Keiko Fujimori’s ex-husband rejected the crimes of money laundering and criminal organization
The trial against former Peruvian presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori as the main accused in the Cocktail Case, resumed on Wednesday and has new dates for next month: Wednesday 7, Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 August.

At the eighth session, the lawyers of a group of 15 accused rejected the charges against their clients, including the ex-husband of the former client, Mark Vito Villanella, who is charged with money laundering.
The defense of Keiko Fujimori’s ex-husband, lawyer César Mayta, rejected the crimes of money laundering and criminal organization attributed to him by prosecutor José Domingo Pérez.
Five accused also presented their initial arguments before the judges of the Third Collegiate Court of the National High Court of Specialized Criminal Justice. According to local platforms “there were people linked to campaign contributions, who were prosecuted for money laundering and lawyers charged with the crime of obstruction of justice”.
The Office of the Prosecutor accuses the alleged criminal organization led by Keiko Fujimori of laundering more than $17 million, mainly through contributions to its 2011 and 2016 campaigns.
Likewise, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requests 30 years with 10 months in prison against Keiko Fujimori for alleged crimes of criminal organization, money laundering, obstruction of justice and false representation in administrative proceedings in conjunction with generic falsehood.
